SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT number ___1__ to SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR SENATE BILL 434, as amended

Amendment sponsored by Senator Trujillo

    1. On page 1, line 25, strike "or" and insert in lieu thereof a comma.

    2. On page 1, line 25, after "provider", insert "or a volunteer or charitable organization".

    3. On page 2, line 4, strike "and".

    4. On page 2, line 8, strike the period and insert in lieu thereof:

"; and

             (4) "student" means any school-age person who is enrolled in fourth through eighth grade at a public school.".

    5. On page 2, line 9, strike "Each" and insert in lieu thereof "On or before the thirtieth day of each".

    6. On page 3, lines 14 and 15, strike "the name of the student's high-quality tutor,".

    7. On page 3, line 20, strike the closing quotation mark and between lines 20 and 21, insert:

         "F. High-impact tutoring provided pursuant to this section may be provided as, in lieu of or in addition to a remediation or academic improvement program required by the Assessment and Accountability Act."".
